The History of Jacob Hill "A 300 year old Story"
Location
Jacob Hill is an area in the center of Seekonk, Massachusetts, that has the largest concentration of historic homes in town…Jacob Hill Farm,120 Jacob Street is at the top of the hill for which the road was named.
The mural depicts significant events in the history of the area.

From the beginning
Jacob Hill Farm sits on land directly tied to the expansion of the Plymouth Bay Colony and early American History. Originally owned by the Wampanoag Indians, this parcel was part of the 80 square miles sold by the great Sachem leader Ousamequin to the colonists in 1641. More information on Youtube.
First Homestead
The original farm house was built between 1722 and 1723 by the Allyn Family.
In 1792 the Deacon Calvin Jacob bought the homestead, because of his prominence in the community the area became known as Jacob Hill.

The Grosvenor's
The next significant change to the property took place in 1915, when William and Mary Grosvenor from Providence purchased the 55 acre farm as a country home. More information on Youtube.
The Jacobs Hill Hunt Club
After the Grosvenor’s updated the house, they sold it to the Jacobs Hill Hunt Club Inc. in 1924. This was a group of very affluent people, the membership list is like a page out of the book “Who’s Who in America” names like Vanderbilt, Firestone, Aldrich, the Grosvenor’s were also club members.
